Rise above the Serengeti in a hot air balloon at dawn. Watch the sunrise paint the plains gold while thousands of animals move below you, followed by a full bush breakfast on the savannah.
There is no better way to see the Serengeti than from the air. A hot air balloon safari lifts off just before dawn, rising gently above the savannah as the sun breaks across the horizon. Below you, the plains stretch in every direction, dotted with herds of wildebeest, zebra, giraffe and the occasional predator on a morning hunt.
The flight lasts roughly one hour and covers some of the most wildlife rich terrain in East Africa. Your pilot navigates with the wind, sometimes skimming the treetops, sometimes climbing high enough to see the curvature of the landscape. Every flight path is different depending on the season and the wind patterns of the day.
After landing, a full bush breakfast is served on the savannah. You sit down to freshly cooked eggs, toast, fruit and champagne while your guide points out animals grazing just a few hundred metres away. It is one of those mornings you do not forget.
Balloon safaris operate year round in the Serengeti, though availability can be limited during peak season (July to October). We recommend booking early, especially if your trip falls during the Great Migration.
