Early morning departure at 5:00 AM from Dar es Salaam for scenic drive through rural Tanzania to Mikumi National Park. The journey showcases changing landscapes from coastal plains to inland savanna passing traditional villages and baobab trees. Arrive at park entrance around 9:00 AM for immediate game drive across Mikumi’s 3,230 square kilometers of diverse wildlife habitats.
Morning Game Drive (9:00 AM – 12:30 PM) Explore the park’s open grasslands resembling the famous Serengeti, home to large herds of zebra, wildebeest, buffalo, and elephants. Visit the famous hippo pools where hundreds of hippos spend daylight hours, and search for lions often seen resting under acacia trees. The park hosts over 400 bird species making it excellent for wildlife photography.
