Tarangire National Park

Tanzania's Best-Kept Elephant Paradise

About Tarangire National Park

Tarangire National Park is Tanzania's hidden gem for wildlife lovers. This quiet park sits in northern Tanzania, away from the busy crowds that fill other safari destinations. The park became famous for its incredible elephant herds and amazing bird watching. During the dry season from July to October, over 3,000 elephants gather along the Tarangire River, creating one of Africa's most spectacular wildlife shows. The park covers an area ten times bigger than nearby Lake Manyara, but gets far fewer visitors. Ancient baobab trees dot the landscape like giant guardians, while the seasonal river draws animals from across the region. Most travelers skip Tarangire or only spend a few hours here, which means you can enjoy authentic safari experiences without fighting for the best viewing spots.

Psst...

Tarangire is known for excellent wildlife viewing from July to October when animals gather around the Tarangire River. Expect to see large herds of elephants, buffalo, giraffe, zebra, and various antelope during peak season.
