Planning Tips

These tips will help you choose parks and islands to visit and make the most of your Tanzania adventure.

Northern vs Southern Parks

Northern parks offer classic safari experiences with better infrastructure but more crowds. Southern parks provide authentic wilderness with fewer visitors but require more time and higher costs for fly-in access.

Zanzibar beaches work year-round. Whale shark seasons at Mafia Island (November-April) and turtle nesting at Saadani (January-March) require specific timing.

Northern parks and Zanzibar are more expensive but easier to access. Southern parks and remote islands cost more due to flight requirements but offer exclusive experiences.

Most destinations connect through Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar airports. Road access works for northern parks and Mikumi, while southern and island destinations require flights.
